Google says foundational SEO remains relevant to AI Overviews and AI Mode. Eligibility requires an indexed page that can appear with a snippet. It describes no additional technical requirements or special AI schema for these features.
My reading of the signal
My interpretation: prioritise a useful service architecture, evidence behind claims and accessible content before buying a new label. Eligibility is not a promise of inclusion, ranking or traffic. This guidance concerns Google’s features.
A service business can start with a small set of pages that each solve a distinct information need: what the service covers, who it is useful for, how the work begins and what evidence supports the approach.
Use case studies and articles to answer follow-up questions. Explain the scope of your evidence and keep source dates visible when the subject changes over time.
Measure useful business outcomes alongside search visibility. A query that produces a qualified conversation may deserve more attention than a broad term that produces uninterested traffic.
Questions to turn into action
- Publish specific service pages that answer buying questions.
- Connect articles, proof and services with useful internal links.
- Keep factual claims and structured data consistent with visible content.
- Review indexing, enquiries and conversions together.
