EZDubai and Euromonitor report UAE e-commerce of AED 42.2 billion in 2025, compared with AED 17.6 billion in 2020. Their 2030 projection is AED 67.2 billion. The future figure is a forecast.
My reading of the signal
My interpretation: a national headline is a starting point. An entrant still needs category-level evidence, a clearly defined customer and a credible acquisition model. Aggregate market growth does not establish demand for a specific offer.
Use the market figure to frame a question, then narrow it. A speciality retailer and a broad marketplace face different customer expectations, margins and competitive sets.
Build a short evidence pack for your own offer: five alternatives, delivered prices, stated delivery times, proof of quality and the steps from product discovery to checkout.
The decision to invest should use your own operating costs and a range of acquisition assumptions. Start with a small test whose outcome can change your next decision.
Questions to turn into action
- Define the category, price band and customer you can serve.
- Compare five competing offers, including delivery and returns.
- Model contribution margin and acquisition cost before buying reach.
- Run a bounded demand test and review qualified orders.
